EU Settlement Scheme – Pre Settled Status
EU citizens who have not been a resident in the UK for the last 5 years can apply for Pre Settled Status by 31 December 2020. To qualify for Pre Settled Status, you must have continuous residence (not employment) within the UK for 6 months. Once you receive Pre Settled Status, you will have this for 5 years, at which point you can then apply for Settled Status.
It is important to note that once they receive their Pre Settled Status, you will lose this if you leave the UK for a period of 2 consecutive years.
In order to apply for Pre Settled Status, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have been living in the UK for 6 months. If you cannot produce evidence such as a utility bill or payslips, this can also be in the form of a letter from the employer or an accommodation agreement.

Any correspondence, request for further information to support your application, and your settlement status confirmation will be sent by email.
You will need to have access to your email document once it arrives as this will be your electronic proof of status when you wish to renter the UK in future.
